The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

This blog is my second blogging experience. In my first attempt, I wanted to write about my Ph.D. studies on intrapreneurship. Then, my purpose was to make my public footprint as an entrepreneurship and strategy junior scholar. After a while, I noticed that writing useful blog posts is not as easy as I perceived before. You need to have new ideas or be able to frame older ideas in a way that is more efficient for your audience to read and perhaps learn. Of course, PhDs are supposed to come up with new ideas in their research field, but I started the blog too early when I did not have a clear vision about my contributions to intrapreneurship research. Plus, during my Ph.D. time, I was so busy with the research practicalities (or lost in a jungle of ideas)  that I could not conclude on a useful message to convey in my blog posts. After some unsuccessful trials, I closed the blog, with hope for opening another blog later when I find my feet in the entrepreneurship and strategy field.

Now, I am about to defend my thesis. Finalizing my Ph.D. research, I also started my dream job, to teach entrepreneurship and strategy at a university level. Now I believe, I have interesting enough ideas for my students and others to convey about entrepreneurship and strategy in the era of digitalization. Or at least, I have clear questions to share with others to see how we can address them together as the fans of the same topic. My other motive for running this blog is to be in touch with a diverse range of audience and enjoy discussing my concerns with them. In fact, I am posting here to exchange intellectual capital with you.

In this blog, I share my thought on corporate entrepreneurship, in the context of digitalization. I am interested in understanding the barriers of adaptation to technological advancements and entrepreneurship in established businesses and strategies to overcome such barriers.  I like topics related to digital technology adoption–for example, Cloud technology, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence–by incumbents, including the organization design, leadership and middle and line management practices, and competitive strategies required for the adoption. Phenomena like business platforms and ecosystems are what I find useful in getting down to the nitty-gritty of incumbents adaptation to radical technological advancements.

So, I will post about digital transformation, corporate entrepreneurship, and strategy here. To avoid using the words above, e.g. transformation, platform, and ecosystems, as buzzwords, I will give clear definitions of the keywords then use them in my next posts.

I cannot wait to post my next blog and receive your feedback.
